For 34 years, Pacuare Reserve has been dedicated to the protection of Leatherback Turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) and gathering valuable data on their nesting tendencies, population status, and nest survival. Our conservation and research program for Sea Turtles (PCITM) also monitors Hawksbill Turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas). To aid in our efforts, we employ a tagging method that involves the use of external metallic tags and internal PIT Tag Microchips (integrated passive transponders).
